The Newsletter Editor is responsible for contacting the members of the Area World Service Committee prior to printing of “Green Mountain Sharings,” the Vermont Area AFG newsletter to request items of interest, upcoming events, and sharings from members on their experiences at Al-Anon/Alateen functions. This contact may be in the form of a post card, letter, or phone call. Information and articles submitted are then reviewed by the Editor and forwarded to the person doing the publishing. The information should be received in a time frame to allow for set up and copying of the newsletter. Experience has shown that four pages (2 sheets double sided) is a length that holds members interest and allows enough space for important information as well as sharings.
The newsletter is published one month prior (April and September) to the Spring and Fall Assemblies to allow timely information to be distributed to the groups.
The Newsletter Editor is a voting member of the Area World Service Committee and should attend all meetings as well as Spring and Fall Assembly. If the Editor cannot attend a meeting, the Editor should send a written report to the Area Chair.
Any expenses such as postage, phone calls and actual gas cost may be submitted to the Area treasurer for reimbursement monthly.
It is the task of the Newsletter Publisher to set up and type the newsletter when the text has been received from the Editor. When this is complete a hard copy should be mailed to the person responsible for distribution. The copy should be in the hands of the distribution person at least one full week prior to the April and September AWSC meetings.
Any expenses such as postage, phone calls and actual gas cost may be submitted to the Area treasurer for reimbursement monthly.
Upon receipt of the hard copy have 250 copies made and ready for distribution through the District Representatives at the April and September AWSC meetings. The expense for copying may be requested from the Area treasurer in advance or paid and reimbursed.
