Area Chairperson – Job Description
The Area Chairperson is responsible for the following:
- Chairs all Area World Service Committee meetings and Area Assemblies, keeping a good orderly direction and flow at meetings.
- Prepares (in consultation with AWSC members) the agenda for each meeting.
- Keeps in contact with the Delegate and other members of the AWSC.
- Encourages the AWSC to set reasonable goals.
- Recognizes when there is confusion in a meeting and clarifies the question at hand.
- Appoints members to fill vacant positions until an election may be held.

The Area Chairperson is not a voting member (only in the case of a tie vote) of the Area World Service Committee and should attend all meetings as well as Spring and Fall Assembly. If the Area Chairperson cannot attend a meeting, the Area Chairperson should appoint an appropriate member of the AWSC to fill in.
Expenses such as postage, phone calls and actual gas cost may be submitted to the Area treasurer for reimbursement monthly.
