Al-Anon Liaison to AA Convention (AAL) – Job Description
The Al-Anon Liaison to the Vermont AA Convention (AAL) coordinates Al-Anon participation at the Vermont AA Convention:
- Attend at least two AA Convention Committee meetings.
- The AAL will provide the meeting schedule and names of chairpersons for Al-Anon workshops at the AA Convention.
- Generally the meeting room is available for Al-Anon use for the entire weekend.
- Traditionally there have been 5 meetings but this may vary (1 on Friday evening, 3 on Saturday, 1 on Sunday)
- Meetings are generally open discussion, but other formats may be used.
- Contact the Area Alateen Coordinator or local Alateen groups to provide Alateen meeting.
- The AAL may choose to attend for the entire weekend at their own expense or for the day. Funds may be available to defray the cost of day registration.
- The AAL should ensure that all meetings are chaired, track meeting attendance, and pass the basket (7th Tradition) which helps defray cost of providing literature for the Convention.
- Follow-up with a thank you letter to AA and present a report to the Vermont Area Assembly and the Vermont Area World Service Committee.
The AAL is a voting member of the Area World Service Committee and should attend all meetings as well as Spring and Fall Assembly. If the AAL cannot attend a meeting, the AAL should send a written report to the Area Chair.
Expenses such as postage, phone calls and actual gas cost may be submitted to the Area treasurer for reimbursement monthly.
